Position Summary 

The candidate will be a member of a team of System Engineers, Test Engineers, and Support Engineers that provide engineering, applied science and technology support to a Program Executive Office and their Program Managers.

 

General Purpose

The candidate will be proactive, innovative and an integral member of a workgroup that juggles a portfolio of naval system acquisition projects for Special Operations Forces.

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be skilled in the technologies and systems engineering processes required to develop SOF naval craft, equipment and ancillary devices. He/she will be knowledgeable of procedures to develop/review/maintain program draft Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP) and contribute to Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP) naval architectural, electrical and electronic, mechanical and technical data. The candidate will be knowledgeable of configuration change documentation such as Engineering Change Proposals and Craft Alterations Proposals and perform analysis, database development and management for testing and assistance with respect to inter- and intra- operability issues in assigned programs.  He/she will support Developmental Testing (DT), Operational Testing (OT), Follow-on Test & Evaluation (FOT&E) of SOAL-NS and PM CCM programs and ancillary systems.  Support Acquisition process management that incorporates logic, cost, schedule, performance risks, and operational effectiveness in proposed products and their lifecycle improvements.  Engineering support in addition includes:   

1.      Participate in SOF Maritime design, development, fabrication and test activities

2.      Participate in briefings, conferences and meetings

3.      Provide status updates and impacts of planned activities

4.      Assess and identify emerging technologies and provide customer with solutions for implementing those capabilities to development or fielded products. 

5.      Conduct trade studies and recommend improvements to current practices

6.      Capture lessons learned and incorporate into tactics, techniques and procedures

7.      Conduct assessments of alternative concepts and solutions to support customer requirements

8.      Review and recommend studies for incorporation into future programs

9.      Support documentation reviews to include SOWs and CDRLs

10.  Monitor and report metric performance data.

TRAVEL

Some travel to locations world-wide, IAW Joint Travel Regulations (JTR). 



Qualifications:

Essential Skills and Experience

  • 4 - 8+ years of relevant systems, test or support engineering and DoD related experience.

 

Non-Essential Skills and Experience

  • Skilled in areas of Program Management with knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle, from cradle to grave, is preferable. 
  • Background with USSOCOM preferred, with particular naval systems experience in PEO-NS highly desirable. 
  • Familiarity with current programs under management of PEO-NS is also a plus.

Current programs included in the naval systems portfolio, today are:

  • Combat Craft Medium (CCM),  Non-Gasoline Burning Outboard Engine (NBOE), Joint Multi-Mission Submersible (JMMS), Advanced SEAL Delivery System (ASDS), MK 8 Mod 1 SEAL Delivery Vehicle, Shallow Water Combat Submersible (SWCS), Dry Deck Shelter (DDS), Swimmer Transport Device (STD), Semi-Autonomous Hydrographic Reconnaissance Vehicle; and the Hydrographic Reconnaissance Littoral Mapping Device, MK V Special Operations Craft, Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB), Maritime Craft Air Delivery System (MCADS), Combatant Craft Forward Looking Infrared (CC FLIR), Integrated Bridge System (IBS), Remote Operated Small Arms Mount (ROSAM), Special Operations Craft Riverine (SOCR), Combatant Craft Riverine (CC-R) Tactical Radio System, and the Combatant Craft – Medium (CCM) MK 1 and Security Force Assistance (SFA) maritime programs, all associated ancillary components including Foreign Military Sales (FMS).  It is anticipated that additional, related programs will be added to the PEO-NS portfolio.

 

EDUCATION

Level I in SPDE or equivalent with associated Bachelor's Degree
